I had a great run of finding these little geometric patterned pots last year.  New shapes and patterns seemed to be popping up every couple of weeks, either on eBay or at fairs.  This little 3 inch pot was the last one found at the end of last year, and I've not found any since, but hopefully they'll start cropping up again soon.

Another Cruet Shape

This shape was designed by Guy Sydenham and Tony Morris in 1967/68.  It's shape no 506 and quite often appears in the Sea Crest and Blue Lace glazes for which I think it was originally designed, but I haven't quite worked out yet the names of  these glaze colours.  Hopefully I'll find out before posting this and other new tableware shapes to my website that I'm planning to update next week.

Aegean Sweet dish 360

I've been getting a few Aegean dishes like this in recent months.  There always seem to be an awful lot of the brown swirly Aegean plates and vases on eBay but every now and then one that's a bit more graphic pops up. This one is made using a sgraffito technique with the brown glaze/slip been cut into to reveal the green underneath.  I'm hoping I'll have some time next week to get photos of a few of these posted onto my main website.

Unsigned Delphis No.3

I found this 8" Delphis plate on eBay a couple of weeks ago.  It went quickly to the top of my favourites list but has taken a while to post on here as there seem to be so many pots coming my way in the past few weeks.  It has a blue dolphin stamp so I guess dates from 1966 or there about.

Picotee Pot

I'm not sure what use this (No. 640) shape of lidded pot had. There's no spoon slot, but there is a ventilation hole. It came from eBay this week and when it arrived I was surprised that it seems to be stoneware. 

The Stripy Picotee glaze patterns were introduced in 1932,  the pot dates from about that time and this particular arrangement of coloured stripes is number 40.   I know I should have made the camera focus better, but in real life the stripe are very blurry too.

Poole Bokhara 658 JB and 656 JB

These are two of my Robert Jefferson Bokhara pots which I found last year but didn't post because I couldn't get them to show up against the black background.  The butter box shape number 658 and jam pot with gorgeous ball finial number 656.

Poole Freeform Bowl 344 PJB

I'm off the the antiques fair at Elescar in the morning so in the hope of finding more gorgeous pots I thought I should plan on listing this on eBay tomorrow night.  I think I've posted a photo of this before on the blog when I first found it at a fair at the Malvern Show Ground last year.  It's one of my favourite "contemporary" patterns, designed by Alfred Read in 1954 and painted on this bowl by Diane Holloway sometime between 1955 and '58.

Poole Bokhara Preserve Jar 657 OGA

Here's a new addition to my growing collection on Bokhara jars which were developed by Robert Jefferson in 1964.  This is I think my 11th, but its the first example of this shape or this pattern.

Poole Waddington's Promotional Bowl

Specially made for John Waddington Ltd. or at least that's what it says on the bottom, together with Poole factory mark for 1959-67.   Its quite a size at 22cm. I got this one on eBay recently and they seem to pop-up from time to time.  I'm not sure how many were made.

10" Delphis Plate Margaret Anderson

I'm running out of room!  One option would be to stop buying so many new pots, the other which is only slightly more bearable is to sell some.  So this early Delphis 10 inch plate painted by Margaret Anderson in either 1966 or '67 is going on sale on eBay today along with a few other treasured pots.  

Guy Sydenham Green Island Egg Cup

This salt glazed stoneware egg cup was thrown by Guy Sydenham during the time that he lived on Green Island  in Poole Harbour (1968-88), with clay found on the island and sold at a craft shop in Corfe village.
Collecting is a slippery slope.  It starts with the idea "I wouldn't mind one of those", but then one, quickly becomes two, and before you know it its a whole new collection.  These pots made by Guy Sydenham are about the only thing at the moment that I'm collecting (there you go) that doesn't have a Poole Pottery mark.

Poole Contemporary pattern Pot

This small but perfect little vase also came from Lincoln this week.  PT or butterflies Pattern designed by Ruth Paveley, painted by June March sometime between 1955 and '59, on a this 7 cm tall vase, shape number 650 designed by Alfred Read and Guy Sydenham.

Early Poole Storage Jars

I've wanted one of these pots of ages, then like London buses they all arrive at once.

This happened today while I was at the Lincoln Antiques Fair.  I've never bought so many damaged and dirty pots before.  They have washed up quite nicely, but on the stall they didn't so much look like they'd been in the garden shed for 50 years, more like buried underneath it.  All the lids have some damage - one or two quite obvious.  And the coffee pot is so cracked its just about falling to pieces.  But i didn't know which one to buy, mainly because I've only ever seen one for sale before,  so got them all.  

The big ones (with finials 19 cm tall ) Tea, Coffee, Rice, Tapioca, Raisins,  Sultanas and Salt: The small one (11.5 cm) is Pepper.  There are others and based on the selection here I should think Currants is a likely one, and as I write this have just seen in Jennifer Hawkins book a photo of 2 jars, Currants and Pepper, both those attributed to Margaret Holder c1927 and housed in the V&A. 

They are made by a novel method for Poole, the writing is incised, removing the blue glaze/slip to reveal the white body of the pot, a bit like the stripes on T&G Green Cornishware. The white body must have been used specifically at this early date just for these jars.

I think they would have been designed by John Adams.
