Freeform Vase

Here's the first pot I found on holiday last week.  It's a hand thrown freeform bottle shaped vase just 5 1/2 inches tall and  has a  factory mark which dates it between 1951 and 1955.  It has an unusual shape number 688, but I guess would have been designed either by Alfred Read or Guy Sydenham.   Its covered in a magnolia glaze.   And could be the start of a new floating in outer space  look for my blog photos.

Early Poole Geometric Pattern Vase

Home from holiday last week, together with a few new pots that I found an antiques fair at the Three Counties Show Ground in Malvern, so some updates to my collection even if none to the blog.  I've yet to photograph the new pots to put on here, but need to finish unpacking first.  Anyway,  the pot above I found a couple of months ago on eBay, it's fairly early with a shiny glaze, a factory mark that dates between 1922 and 1934 and a painters mark for Winifred Collett who worked at Poole during the same period.  It's ND pattern and has an inscribed shape number 443, but also an inscribed EX mark which I haven't seen before and I don't know what it means.

Guy Sydenham Goblets

These were made by Guy Sydenham while he wasn't at Poole Pottery.  I've yet to decipher the marks so I'm not sure exactly when they were made.  They have a circular GS stamp, two ducks feet and a crossed circle mark on the the base.  They're stoneware and have a similar feel to Poole Atlantis pieces.  They unfortunately open up a whole new area for collecting.
